2009 81st Academy Awards Ratings

The 81st Academy Awards telecast is now over, the Oscars have been awarded and the ratings have been tabulated. The preliminary national numbers show an increase in the 2009 Academy Award telecast over 2008. According to Nielsen Media overnights, ABC scored a 23.3 household rating with a 35 share representing 36.3 million viewers nationally. Locally, the Memphis ABC affiliate WPTY averaged a 14.9 household rating with a 20.5 share.
Unfortunately, the Academy Award nominees with Memphis ties were not among the winners, but Memphians were thrilled to have local connections at the Oscars. And on a personal note, I thought Hugh Jackman was a great host!
