Memphis Influencers on CBS Sunday Morning
Sunday, March 30th, at 8am, CBS Sunday Morning will report on a new Memphis initiative called “Common Ground”. Common Ground is a discussion/action group about race and our community. Wendi Thomas from the Commercial Appeal, Rabbi Micah Greenstein from Temple Israel and Lisa Moore Willis from BRIDGES USA were interviewed for this national story that will air locally on WREG Channel 3. According to this Reuters story, Ellen DeGeneres has passed Oprah Winfrey in popularity. AOL television conducted an online poll recieving over 1.3 million votes. Here are the AOL’s results.
DVR Impact
There has been much talk about the impact of the DVR on advertising. According to a Forrester Reseach survey of leading marketers, more than 50% plan to cut TV ads by 12% once DVR penetration hits 50%. Magid found that local news is one of the least DVR’d program types. TV is consumers’ 1st source for news and information (55%) followed by internet (26%). Read Mediaweek’s whole story.
U.S. DVR penetration is 21.4% or 24,193,520 units.
Memphis DVR penetration is 19.9% or 132,990 units.
Highest DVR penetration is Los Angeles, 31.2% or 1,762,650 units.

Keith Richards for Louis Vuitton
According to Reuters, Louis Vuitton has chosen Keith Richards, guitarist with the Rolling Stones, to appear in a series of ads with Annie Leibovitz photos. There has been discussion about Keith Richards as the new face of Louis Vuitton and the first image of him in a hotel room cradling his guitar with copy that reads:
”Some journeys cannot be put into words. New York. 3am. Blues in C.”
Is it a stroke of genius or a bit of a misfit? Iconic? Classic? Off target? or something else?
